So, I love photography, but I have another job. Slowly I have immersed myself in the shooting, editing and even the business side of photography for the past several years.
I was inspired by my cadets (that I teach at the United States Air Force Academy) to make it real and to become a photographer. This site makes it real! But something was still missing. A name.
It might not seem like a big deal- but it is! In order to do this right, I am going to get an LLC and a federal EIN number and state tax ID and it all depends on this name. I find so many of the names overly sweet and perfect- they mostly do not fit my style or personality. I thought about using my name to just get as much exposure as possible, but that does not meet my needs either as I will be changing my last name in the vaguely near future to match my husband and sons.
After much thought, one day it came to me. Hexagon House Studios. I think it is strong and modern and trendy- and I live in a hexagon shaped house! I can incorporate more than just photography if I get a chance to expand my services to include some of my other passions too.
With the end of this struggle- the next challenge of creating this business lies before me. Stay tuned to find out what it is like to start a photography business!
